Muthamizh Sangam of Saskatoon (MSoS) - சாஸ்கடூன் முத்தமிழ் சங்கம் Muthamizh Sangam of Saskatoon (MSoS) Muthamizh Sangam of Saskatoon is a registered non-profit organization in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada , dedicated to promoting Tamil culture, language, heritage, and community unity in the region. Mission & Purpose MSoS was started in 2022 by a group of dedicated Tamil families with a vision to bring Tamil families in the Saskatoon area together, celebrate cultural traditions, and support newcomers. The core aims include: • Celebrating Tamil & Indian cultural festivals such as Pongal, Tamil New Year, Deepavali, Eid, Easter, Christmas, and others to promote cultural awareness and unity. • Encouraging community learning, networking, and support through events and cultural activities. • Fostering a sense of belonging and family within the Tamil community of Saskatoon. • Helping students and new Tamil-speaking immigrants settle and integrate into Canadian society. • Promoting a strong cultural identity grounded in the Tamil proverb “Yaadhum Oore Yaavarum Kelir” — meaning everyone belongs everywhere. Community Events & Activities MSoS organizes cultural celebrations and social events throughout the year , many of which include: Pongal / Tamil Heritage Month events Tamil New Year celebrations Potlucks, picnics, and sports events Festival of Lights (e.g., Deepa Thiruvizha) These events are designed to bring people together, celebrate traditions, and build a strong sense of shared cultural identity. Tamil Language & Cultural Programs MSoS runs a Tamil language school for children that focuses on building strong foundational skills in Tamil through interactive and engaging learning. The curriculum follows recognized language teaching standards, and classes cover listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
