About This Event
The Siva Vishnu Temple of Ottawa hosts Annaabhishegam 2026, the sacred rice offering to Lord Siva, on Sunday, October 25, 2026, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the temple, 6179 Perth Street, Richmond, Ottawa. The program includes Navakalasa Homam, Milk Abhishekam and Harati, plus the Annalingam Procession; Anna Prasadam is served from 7:45 p.m. All communities are welcome, and sponsorships are available through the temple.
Background: Annaabhishegam is performed in the Tamil month of Aippasi, when Lord Siva is adorned with cooked rice as an offering of gratitude to the divine who nourishes all living beings. According to tradition, every grain of rice offered represents a Siva Lingam, and witnessing the darshan is said to carry the merit of worshipping countless Lingams. The 2026 observance falls on Pournami (full moon) day.
The Siva Vishnu Temple of Ottawa marks observances across the Tamil calendar year, including Navarathri, Tamil New Year and regular weekly sevas, per its published events calendar.
